July Dryland Racing returns to Drag n Fly Kennel

July's Hot Hounds Dryland Meet will return to Lee Kirkpatrick and Jim Hajash's kennel on the Old Alaska highway, just west of Whitehorse. Even if you don't want to exert yourself, come and watch those who do, and enjoy the fun and potluck barbecue.

Competitions will include Canicross (running with your dog, for the really fit people), scootering (for the not-quite-so fit but generally suicidal), bikejouring (bordering on the relaxing) and a new option for the downright lazy: Formula 1: 6-8 dog teams and powered 4 wheelers. Also, thanks to Bombproof Outdoor Gear for providing the "wagon" there will be a Freight Pull Competition.

Prizes so far from PHILLIPE'S BIKE REPAIR (Wood Street, Whitehorse - purveyors of fine bikes and great body armour - don't laugh, it doesn't feel that amusing somersaulting over the front of a scooter (still attached to the dogs, and still accelerating) and eyeing all the pointy jaggy rocks - unless you're well tooled up, of course), and TAPLOW FIRST MATE DOG FOODS (if you can't wait to win some, go and buy it from Copper Haul Twister sponsor - Duffy's Pets and Tanzilla Harness Supply, Whitehorse). All participants will receive a certificate good for one 25lb block of Arctic Charr processing by-product from ICY WATERS LTD, and thanks to them for shipping Taplow's dog food up here.

More details to follow. Dryland - it's the only thing to do when the snow has gone...or global warming changes it all to rain.
